AirTN NextGen Seminar Research Infrastructures & Simulation Capabilities
September 25, 2014 @ 8:45 am - 4:30 pm
Event Navigation
Towards virtual certification: Key challenges in the field of simulation capabilities for European Research Infrastructures.
AirTN-NextGen will continue the network established under previous AirTN projects (developed under ERA-NET scheme), enlarging it to create a platform of networking and communication between national organisations and governmental institutions (AirTN-NextGen Network), supporting research and innovation in the EU Member States and Associated Countries to the EU Framework Programme in the field of Aviation (e.g. Aeronautics and Air Transport – AAT).
The successful activities started in previous AirTN will be continued and improved – coordinated calls among MS, launch of European transnational cooperation projects, identification of Research Infrastructures needs and business models analysis, stimulation of education and workforce mobility – including the development of studies on areas of common interest and organisation of dedicated workshops/seminars.
Clusters of simulation capabilities are one of the key points to develop a fully networked aerospace resources or the development of a net of facilities for virtual certification according to the SRIA.
In this context, this seminar has analysed the potential advantages and their associated constraints of clusters of simulations to foster the virtual testing and the virtual certification. The aim of the seminar was the identification of new research infrastructure needs for both experimental and for virtual testing, the potential needs for virtual certification and the associated needs for the establishment of the clusters of simulations of European capabilities. The key conclusions of the seminar will be used as a basis for the aeronautic community to progress towards virtual certification and to identify essential actions.
